23 December 2008. Tier one is for highly skilled individuals, Tier two is for skilled workers with a job offer - the majority of migrants coming to work in the UK are likely to come under Tier two.

Tier three is for limited numbers of low skilled  skilled workers, these are increasingly filled by workers from the new EU member states.

Tier four is for students. Tear five is for youth mobility and temporary workers.
