Written & Performed by Lemn Sissay

lemn_sissay.jpg8th July 2009: The child of an unlikely liaison between Ethiopia, Eritrea and Wigan Social Services, Lemn Sissay didn't know another black person until he was 18.

Playwright, performer and broadcaster Lemn Sissay has spent most of his adult life searching for his family who are black like him. Now he presents the most serious of subjects through a journey of laughter and mental gymnastics to discover why he doesn't hate white people.

Lemn Sissay is a Southbank Centre Artist in Residence, and his work includes publications Tender Fingers in a Clenched Fist, Rebel Without Applause and Listener and the plays Chaos By Design, Storm and Something Dark. 'A clever, compassionate meditation on belonging. Theatre plus stand-up equalling thoughtful fun' (Evening Standard).

Please note - this performance is not suitable for under 12s.
