Concession for A-levels applicants awaiting GCSE results

08 June 2009: With GCSE results not expected to be released till August end, students applying for A-levels in the United Kingdom can now make a visa application based on conditional offer from their education provider. The concession, agreed upon by the UK Border Agency for this year only, applies to applications made overseas; and is in recognition of the fact that some courses begin in early September. A home office spokesman said: “We have now agreed to extend this concession to cover all students waiting for GCSE results, who are going on to study A-Level equivalent courses, such as higher diplomas, in the United Kingdom. “The applicant will still be required to submit an unconditional offer as soon as it is received, and the visa will only be issued on this basis.
