Appeal for witnesses and information about Croydon murder

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information after a murder in Croydon.

At approximately 21.20hrs on Monday 8th August officers discovered the 26-year-old victim in a vehicle in Duppas Hill Road at its junction with Warrington Road, Croydon.

He was taken to St George's Hospital with a gunshot wound to his head, and was pronounced dead on 9th August.

Man with three wives jailed

A man who bigamously married three women has been jailed for three years.

Delroy Bryan, 46, of Reigate Road in Bromley was arrested by the UK Border Agency officers in May 2010, after information was received suggesting he was involved in bigamous marriages to aid immigration applications.

Bryan married Jamaican national Inez Downs at Islington Registry office in November 2000. She went on to claim British nationality.

However, he failed to inform the registrar that he was already married at the time. Two years later he married wife number three, another Jamaican woman, Alphina Brown at Merton Register Office. She also went on to claim British citizenship.

Nigerian Woman jailed for passport fraud

A Nigerian woman who used a fake passport to get a job has been jailed, following an investigation by UKBA officers.

Nkoli Judith Nwankwo of Pembroke Avenue in Enfield had used the false passport to pose as a Dutch national called Marilyn Kamanda and get a job as an IT consultant.

The 31-year-old was arrested on 21st March at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, where she was working as a contractor.

Reward of £20,000 in Daniel Duke murder investigation

Detectives investigating the murder of 22-year-old Daniel Duke in Alberta Street, Walworth in 2009, are offering a substantial reward of up to £20,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the person(s) responsible.

At about 18:45hrs on 2nd November 2009, Daniel of Southwark Street, SE1 was speaking to a man in Alberta Street when he was shot. Witnesses heard footsteps approaching just prior to the shooting, and saw a Silver Ford Mondeo speed away immediately after.

The Mondeo was later found burnt out in Peckham. Despite his injuries Daniel made a 999 call on his mobile and told the operator he had been shot. He staggered a short distance and banged on the front door of a nearby house, collapsing in the stranger’s hallway.

20 arrested in drugs operation in Hackney

Hackney Police, in conjunction with Hackney Council and UK Border Agency, have successfully completed a four-month operation in Ridley Road and Dalston Junction, E8, aimed at tackling class A drug dealing in the area.

On 19th July, the police arrested 19 for a variety of immigration and drug-related offences, including possession with intent to supply class A drugs; an additional arrest for immigration offences only; and a large quantity of class A drugs seized.

The arrests were made as part of Operation Marsican, an initiative to tackle serious and organised crime in the borough, which has been jointly run and funded by the police and Hackney Council.
