Justina Mutale, founder of Positive Runway: Global Catwalk to Stop the Spread, has been nominated for African Woman of the Year Award alongside African presidents and vice presidents, at the 2012 African Achievers Award.
Positive Runway, which raises awareness against the spread of HIV and AIDS, has also been nominated for Service to the Community Award.
Justina joins a host of prominent African dignitaries nominated this year, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, was the first recipient of the African Achievers Award in recognition for his fight for Human Rights, Justice and Peace.
“We could not miss out the most inspiring African woman based in London," said event coordinator, Heather Mudhari. "Justina has been awarded with various international awards for her outstanding contribution to the international community.”
Justina is joined by eminent nominees in other categories including distinguished African leaders and renowned humanitarians that have devoted their lives to the development of Africa. Organisations making a difference in Africa will also be celebrated.
The awards attract high profile guests from Africa, the USA, Europe and all over the UK. Celebrities from the media and entertainment industries will also be attending, including British R&B singer Lemar and SWAY, a Ghanaian British Rapper who has received 12 major awards including three Urban Music Awards and sold over 100,000 albums.
The event is a celebration of African leadership, business, development, culture and the arts. The awards will be held on Wednesday 22nd February at Tutu's Place, the Kings College.
