The United Nations has condemned the rebellion by elements of the Malian armed forces who announced the dissolution of the Government and seized control of the country. The UN called for a return to constitutional rule.

UN Human Rights Chief Navi Pillay has today hailed the International Criminal Court verdict in the case of Thomas Lubanga, who was found guilty of recruiting and using child soldiers in the East of the Democratic Republic of the Congo between 2002 and 2003.
